چکیده

A new aconitine-type norditerpenoid alkaloid, kohatenine (1) [10β-hydroxy-1α,8β,16β-trimethoxy6α,14α-diacetyl-N-ethyl aconitane], along with four known alkaloids, condelphine (2), talatisamine (3), peregrine (4), and 14-O-acetyltalatisamine (5), was isolated from the aerial parts of Delphinium kohatense Munz. The structure of the new compound was deduced on the basis of combined MS (EI and FAB) and NMR (1D and 2D) spectroscopic techniques. The known compounds were confirmed by comparison of the physical and spectroscopic data with those reported in literature.

Norditerpenoid alkaloids from Delphinium flexuosum Bieb.

Delphiniflexine, a new norditerpenoid alkaloid, together with the three known norditerpenoid alkaloids methyllycaconitine, ajadine, and acoseptrigenine were isolated from the aerial parts of Delphinium flexuosum. The structure of delphiniflexine was established on the basis of 1H, 13C, DEPT, homonuclear 1H COSY, NOESY, HSQC, and HMBC NMR studies.

Adverse Effects of Larkspur (Delphinium spp.) on Cattle

There are numerous species of larkspur (Delphinium spp.) in North America. Larkspurs are a major cause of cattle losses on western ranges in the USA, especially on foothill and mountain rangelands. The toxicity of larkspur species is due to various norditerpenoid alkaloids. In this article, we review the current knowledge regarding larkspur ecology and distribution, analytical technologies to s...

In vitro cytotoxicity of norditerpenoid alkaloids.

Forty-three norditerpenoid alkaloids isolated from Aconitum, Delphinium and Consolida species have been evaluated for their cytotoxic effects on the tumor cell lines CT26 (murine colon adenocarcinoma), SW480 (human colon adenocarcinoma), HeLa (human cervical adenocarcinoma), SkMel25 (human melanoma) and SkMel28 (human malignant melanoma) with several multidrug resistance mechanisms and the non-...

The effect of administering multiple doses of tall larkspur (Delphinium barbeyi) to cattle.

Larkspurs ( spp.) are one of the most serious toxic plant problems on foothill and mountain rangelands in the western United States. A considerable amount of research has been conducted over the years in both field and pen settings. The results of these research efforts have significantly increased our understanding of the poisoning of cattle by larkspurs. However, most of the pen studies condu...

Larkspur poisoning: toxicology and alkaloid structure–activity relationships

Systematic approaches to taxonomic classifications of the tall larkspur spp. have been developed using traditional chemical methods to profile alkaloids, comparison of relative toxicity of individual alkaloids, plant morphology/taxonomy and molecular genetics. Using these methods (papers published in this series) toxicology of three distinct species of tall larkspurs including Delphinium glaucu...
